These old photos of downtown were sent in by Buck Thesing
The first photo is dated 1923 and shows the Rondo
Theater. It was a vaudeville house located at what is now 131 2nd Street
NE.

The second photo is a later version of the Rondo. An
awning has been added and the street light has been replaced. The taller
light pole now supports electric trolley lines. The laundry belonged to a
Chinese fellow named Sam Sing. The ladies are probably marching in support
of prohibition. They won their suffrage battle in 1920.

The third photo was taken after 1932. The end of the car
at the left edge of the picture appears to be a 1932 to 1935 Chevrolet. The
Rondo has been remodeled and has become the Lyric Movie Theater. The street
light has been removed permitting the construction of a marquee. There are
still no parking meters. The Lyric was torn down in 1948 and was replaced
by the building that is now a pawn shop.
