Frank J. Trenta

Passed Away: April 10, 2008

BARBERTON -- Frank J. Trenta, 86, passed away April 10, 2008 at Pleasant View Health Care Center.

Frank was born and raised in Barberton. He graduated from Barberton High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1943 to 1946 where he taught radar technology. He married his loving wife and dance partner in 1946. He earned his undergraduate degree from Kent State University in 1948 and received his Master's Degree in Education in 1950. He started his teaching career with the Twinsburg School District where he worked from 1949 to 1952. He then returned to the Akron area and was employed by the Barberton City Schools to teach science and chemistry until his retirement. Frank was an active member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Akron, where he served as a lector and a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society until it's closing. He was currently a member of Prince of Peace Parish in Barberton where he continued his service in St. Vincent DePaul. He also sang in the choir. He was a member of K.S.K.J., and Slovene Pensioners Club. Frank was proud of his Slovenian background and traveled to Slovenia many times to visit relatives and learn more about his heritage. In addition to traveling around all 50 of the United States, Frank enjoyed gardening and hiking the Towpath.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Ann; parents, Stephen and Albina; brothers, Louis, Stephen, Joseph; and sisters, Albina Gradisher, Jennie Tomazic and Mary Rozanc. He is survived by his loving and caring daughter and son-in-law, Mary Terese and Stephen Stone; brothers, Anthony (Dolly) of Norton and Edward (Deb) of Wadsworth; sister-in-laws, Frances Trenta and Mary Kozarevich; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, April 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. W., Barberton. Rosary Service at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 14, 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10a.m. Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. John Valencheck, Celebrant and Fr. Robert Jackson and Fr. Albert Kunkel, Concelebrants. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prince of Peace St. Vincent DePaul Society or St. Francis DeSales (Akron) Capital Fund.
