Alan was a swimmer. He worked at the Barberton Community Center as a life guard. He was a Water Safety Instructor and a scuba diver. I could never figure out why he belonged to the "Polar Bear" club. I remember watching him and the group jump into the freezing waters of Lake Anne that winter of 1973.

Alan grew up on the North end of town. Attended Memorial Elementary and Portage Jr. High. At Portage, he was thought of as a funny guy.

After graduation, he worked for Barberton Citizens Hospital. He moved to California, along with his best friend, Tim Casto, for a brief period of time. When he returned to Ohio, he worked for First National Bank.

He and his wife Sheri had 2 boys. They moved to Durham, NC and were coming back to Ohio when they had an accident that took his life.
