Kandi Williams
Just incase
anyone wondered what ever happened to Kandi Williams, born
Aug 6th,1968..Attended Johnson Elementary, then U.L.Light.......She
left all her friends and beloved Barberton, while in the 7th
grade...The rumor was that she was moving to ALASKA with her
mother. All her friends thought she was crazy!....Well, she
DID move to Alaska, where she has been ever since. She
attended the rest of her school years in Alaska. Nowadays,
she couldn't even dream of coming back to ole' Barberton,
for Anchorage has been her home for 20 years now...But she
still recalls and talks about the good ole days as if they
were yesterday. The warm summer nights spent down at Lake
Anna, the 4th of July fireworks, and the bands they use to
have under the pavilion on the weekends. She has a little 9
year old boy that she plans on bringing home to BARBERTON
SOON...In hopes to show him all the places she use to go as
a young girl herself and show him the Barberton Magic
spirit, she knows, still remains in her hometown... |

Ruth E.
Wheeler
I taught at
BHS for the first semester of 1976-77. I taught sophomore
English and Communications. I replaced Mr. Fleming while he
wrote his book (I could hear the relief when students
entered the room and saw me instead of "Wild Bill"!)
However, it was my first year out of college, I had
graduated four years before from BHS, and I felt like a
child given way too much responsibility. I was a terrible
teacher! I was clueless. But even so, I think the students
knew I liked them. I have gone on to a tremendous and
fulfilling career in the Cleveland Public Schools. I think
I'm a really good teacher now, and my students still know I
like them. Some things never change.
I'd like to apologize to anyone I may have damaged by not
teaching them what they needed to know to go on to the next
level, but if it hadn't been for that first year at
Barberton, I wouldn't have learned what I needed to know to
go on to the next level. |
